State record lake trout caught by a 16 year-old boy from L'Anse. It weighed 61 lbs., 8oz., and was taken with a spinning rod on 12 lb test line; it broke a record set in 1946. The fish was on display at Carpenter's Sports in Marquette for a time, which is where I took the photo. All the glass makes the picture less than optimum, but you get a good sense of the bulk the creature, which was 48 inches long with a girth of 36 inches.
