Becky’s Button Buck. Iosco County, 2006. 24 x 30 in, acrylic on canvas. It's my belief that beauty can come in many different settings and circumstances. Here CO Becky Forton Hopkins is examining a small button buck that someone shot illegally, skinned, took its meat and dumped on a Tawas County roadside. We tracked the dumpers to a camp and found a half dozen piles of illegal bait for deer. As she was examining the carcass it struck me that the color combinations and shape were beautiful, so I took a photo and did a painting. Not everyone will agree with my aesthetic, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder, eh?
